Analysis Week

This was out first week of really analysing our results. We spent a bit of time getting familiar with the evaluation software attached to the XRD machine so that we knew what to look for. This was a pretty long process, with both sides, polished and unpolsihed, of 16 samples to analyse.

We started off with the non-treated samples as they are not quite as critical to the analysis and tried to identify what carbides and phases were present. This was relatively simply for the non-treated samples, but that was not the case for the carburised ones! We felt a bit out of out depth at times, so next we will be sitting down with our advisor to see if she agrees with our findings.

We also made some more progress with our website, it's really coming along nicely now!
